Photo: Brazil to Crack Down on Amazon Clearing



Brazil's government will crack down on Illegal clearing of Brazil's Amazon rain forest after recent data showed that forest loss jumped dramatically last year, the country's environment minister announced today.

Officials will target 36 areas with the heaviest rates of deforestation and try to fine those who buy products that come from illegally deforested land, the minister said.
