Photo: Sterile Salmon Produce Baby Trout



Trout germ cells are transplanted into a newly hatched salmon embryo as part of an experiment that has yielded full trout babies from salmon parents.

The feat represents the first time that a surrogate animal has produced a different species, the scientists say, offering hope that the technique can one day be used to produce other species that are difficult to breed, endangered, or
even extinct.
