Photo: "Spectacular" Gorilla Growth in Congo, Despite War

Photographed in January, three young mountain gorillas are living evidence of the surprisingly good health of the gorillas of Congo's Virunga National Park.

Despite 15 months without ranger protection during a civil war, the population of rare apes grew more than 10 percent to an estimated 211 animals—bringing the world's wild mountain gorilla total to approximately 720.
