Photo: Frequent Flora Miles: Plants Can "Hop" to Distant Lands



The mountain avens flower is among many plant species that have emigrated from Russia to Svalbard, a remote Norwegian Arctic island chain, a new DNA study revealed. The discovery gives hope that other plant species may be able to survive global warming by traveling long distances to cooler regions.
