Photo: Weird Lizard Fossil Reveals Clues to Snake Evolution, Experts Say



A 95-million-year-old fossil found in an Italian museum (top) shows a lizard with vestigial, or no longer functioning, front legs (below). The discovery of the previously unknown lizard species may shed new light on the evolution of modern reptiles, particularly snakes, scientists say.
