Photo: Pronghorn Thrive in Wolves' Shadow

March 4, 2008—A pronghorn antelope stands on a grassy hillside partially silhouetted against a stormy sky in Montana's National Bison Range.

A study published in the current edition of Ecology found that pronghorn populations benefit from the presence of wolves because the wolves prey on coyotes, a pronghorn predator.

The federal government recently announced it is removing the North Rockies gray wolves' Endangered Species Act protections.
