Photo: Hurricane Felix Barrels Into Nicaragua

Hurricane Felix plows into the swampy coastline near the Nicaragua-Honduras border on September 4, 2007, in this false-color satellite image.

Felix came ashore at about 8 a.m. eastern time on Tuesday as a Category 5 storm, only weeks after Hurricane Dean pummeled Mexico with Category 5 winds. This makes 2007 the first year that two Category 5 hurricanes have made landfall in the same season since record keeping started in the late 1800s.
