A southern stingray swims near Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean Sea. A stingray killed "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin on September 4, 2006, off Australia.

Several maimed stingrays have been found dead along Australia's Queensland coast in the wake of Irwin's death, prompting fears of revenge attacks against the species.
