Photo: Astronauts Prepare for Rare Coast-to-Coast Landing

To land the space shuttle in daylight hours, Discovery's commander chose a rare coast-to-coast re-entry. The route hasn't been used since the shuttle Columbia disintegrated over Texas in 2003.

Discovery is expected to land in the early afternoon Wednesday, at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
