Ginkgoes, dawn redwoods, and many other plant species have survived millions of years in China's unique geographical niches. But harvesting for Chinese traditional medicine and increasing pollution may threaten these dino-era survivors, conservationists warn.

In response the Chinese government recently launched a plant-conservation strategy, the largest ever of its kind.
