Against the blue of the Atlantic Ocean, space shuttle Atlantis, carrying a crew of seven, rises majestically from Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Thursday, February 6, 2008.

After two months of technical delays, the shuttle was scheduled to reach the International Space Station Saturday and finally deliver Europe's two-billion-U.S.-dollar Columbus lab.
