Photo: Tasmanian Devils Named Endangered Species



The Tasmanian devil (such as this captive animal shown on July 4, 2004) was deemed an endangered species this week by the Tasmanian state government in Australia.

The feisty marsupial's new status comes in response to its precipitous decline from a mysterious facial cancer.
