Photo: Perseid Meteor Shower to Peak This Weekend

A Perseid meteor creates a vivid streak across the sky over Colorado on August 8, 2007. Jimmy Westlake, a physics and astronomy professor at Colorado Mountain College, snapped the shot using a four-minute guided exposure.

The annual Perseid shower, now underway, will peak on Sunday night this year, with as many as one to two "shooting stars" a minute lighting up the night.
