Photo: NASA Mini-Plane Holds Promise for Mars, Military



Cloud Swift, an experimental model airplane that can seek out and glide on warm air currents, takes off from NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center in Edwards, California.

The airplane could help monitor forest fires, guard borders, and collect weather data, according to engineers.
