Photo: The End of Oil? Breakthrough Turns Coal Into Clean Diesel



Machinery extracts coal from a mine in Wyoming. Scientists have developed a technology that can turn byproducts from the production of fossil fuels into a clean-burning diesel fuel.

In the U.S., policymakers in coal-rich states have touted the technology as a future source of homegrown diesel.
