Photo: Dead Spy Satellite Could Crash Into U.S.

Air Force Gen. Victor "Gene" Renuart Jr., head of the U.S. Northern Command, said Tuesday at the Pentagon that the U.S. government is preparing for a powerless spy satellite to hit North America in late February to early March.

Some observers believe the satellite is hurtling toward Earth at about 1,640 feet (500 meters) a day.
