Photo: Antarctica Heating Up, "Ignored" Satellite Data Show



West Antarctica may actually be warming faster than the Antarctic Peninsula (above, the warmest areas shown in dark red), researchers said in January 2009.

The evidence, from a combination of satellite and weather station data, contradicts previous studies showing that the Antarctic Peninsula was warming while the rest of the continent has cooled.
