Photo: Kilimanjaro's Glaciers May Last Longer Than Predicted



A thin band of snow adorns the peak of Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro in 2003. New research has found that the mountain's ice may persist for longer than was previously expected because low precipitation—and not increasing temperature—is the prime cause for the peak's glacier retreat.
