The 2008 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine has been split among France's Luc Montagnier and Françoise Barr-Sinoussi (center and right), who discovered the virus that causes AIDS, and Harald zur Hausen (left), who identified human papilloma virus (HPV) as the cause of cervical cancer.
