Photo: Polar Bears Listed as Threatened Species in U.S.



Polar bears are now listed as a threatened species under U.S. law, offering protection for the animals in their habitat in Alaska.

But officials emphasize that despite the threats to bears from melting Arctic sea ice, the decision will not be used to determine U.S. climate policy.
