Photo: Ethanol Not So Green After All?

Mascot Captain Cornelius joins a group of ethanol enthusiasts at the opening of an E85 pump at the Petrol Plus station in Garnett, Kansas, on May 14, 2004. At the podium Jere White, executive director of the Kansas Corn Growers Association, addresses the crowd.

E85 is 85 perent ethanol, 15 percent gasoline and works in flexible-fuel cars and trucks. A new study suggests that corn-grain ethanol is not as eco-friendly as soybean-based biodiesel.
