Photo: "First European" Confirmed to Be 1.2 Million Years Old



An inside (left) and top view (right) show an ancient jawbone that scientists have confirmed belongs to the world's "oldest European."

The bone has been dated to about 1.2 million years ago and probably belonged to a human species unique to Europe, researchers say.
