Photo: Brainy Birds Out-Thought Doomed Dinosaurs?



Superior brainpower could be why birds survived the mass extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, a January 2009 study suggests.

Three-dimensional scans of two 55-million-year-old seabird skulls (above) show the ancient bird brains were almost the same size as those in birds alive today.
