Photo: U.S. to Kill Wild Horses as Upkeep Costs Rise?



About 33,000 wild horses roam the dusty open rangelands of ten western states, with about half of the population in Nevada, including these mustangs seen above.

But thousands of mustangs kept in U.S. government holding pens may have to be euthanized as costs escalate for their upkeep, according to a federal report released in November 2008.
