Rangers conduct a combat patrol on July 21, 2006, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Virunga National Park, known for recent gorilla murders.

Park rangers were among 11 people attacked by unknown assailants on July 7, 2008, in a truck owned by a conservation group. Two women died of bullet wounds.
