Photo: Unique Solar Probe Freezing to Death



February 25, 2008—NASA's Ulysses solar probe—pictured here in an artist's rendering—is about to freeze to death, after more than 17 years of gathering data.

The craft's lifespan far exceeded the five-year mission it began in 1990.
