Photo: NASA Hurries to Repair Hubble



The Hubble Space Telescope, seen above in an artist's illustration, has been quiet since late September, when its data formatter failed. NASA engineers announced on October 14, 2008, that they are switching to a backup system, and Hubble could be back online as soon as October 17.
