Photo: Dozens of Rare Reptiles Wash Up Dead in India

At least 50 gharials have been mysteriously found dead recently in a river sanctuary in central India, officials announced this week.

Gharials, like the one seen above, are critically endangered reptiles, with conservationists estimating that 1,500 exist in the wild.
