Photo: Cricket, Katydid Songs Are Best Clues to Species' Identities

Many species of crickets and katydids are hard to identify just by looking at them. But males of each species use their own distinct songs to attract a mate, so the best way to tell different species apart, an insect expert says, is by using your ears.
