Photo: Goat Lived Like a Reptile -- A First



The prehistoric goat Myotragus, seen here in an artist's reconstruction at the CosmoCaixa museum in Barcelona, lived on what is now the Spanish island of Majorca.

Bone tissue from the now extinct goat shows that the animal likely survived on the resource-poor island by living like a reptile—the first proof of a mammal using this strategy, a November 2009 study says.
