Photo: Car-Free Days Bring Quiet to Communities, Advocates Say



Honking horns, roaring engines, and booming car stereos have helped fuel a sixfold increase in noise pollution over the past 15 years in the U.S., according to advocates of car-free days.

Car-free events can give U.S. urban dwellers a taste of life without cars, proponents say.
