Photo: Mystery Deepens Over Unseen Antarctic "Alps"



The existence of a massive mountain range buried under miles of ice in Antarctica (above, a satellite image of the continent) is even more puzzling to scientists, a November 2008 study said.

The little-researched Gamburtsev Mountains seem to challenge universal geologic patterns, such as its location in the middle of the continent instead of on the edge.
