Photo: LCROSS Impact: Are NASA Moon Crashes Worth the Damage?



In an artist's conception, NASA's LCROSS probe sends its spent Centaur rocket hurtling toward the moon. The resulting crash, which took place October 9, 2009, was intended to kick up a major plume of debris—and hopefully signatures of water ice near the moon's south pole.
