Photo: "Sex Tree," Other Medicinal Plants Near Extinction in Uganda



A sugarcane plantation in Uganda's Mabira Forest Reserve as seen in April 2007. A recent government plan to expand a plantation in the reserve has drawn ire from nearby residents who rely on the forest for their livelihoods.

Experts recently said that increased poaching of medicinal plants is putting the forest under additional environmental pressure.
