Photo: Tumors Shrunk by Engineered Immune Cells, Scientists Say



Human melanoma—a fatal type of skin cancer—is seen here magnified 130 times with a scanning electron microscope. Scientists have successfully shrunk tumors in melanoma sufferers by introducing normal immune cells engineered to recognize and destroy cancer cells, according to new research.
