Photo: "Super Suckers" Slurp Invasive Algae Off Reefs



The Super Sucker, a type of underwater vacuum, has been successful in removing harmful algae (bottom) and restoring reefs to their natural, healthy state (top).


The invasive algae, called gorilla ogo, has slowly overtaken Hawaii's reefs, making the situation dire, experts say.
