The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) will be perched in the mountains of Peru, as seen in this artist's conception.

LSST, billed as the largest astronomical survey project, recently announced that it has partnered with Internet giant Google to help make the project's enormous amounts of data available to the public.
