Photo: "Doomsday" Vault Will End Crop Extinction, Expert Says



These shelves deep inside a Norwegian mountain will soon be filled with seeds representing millions of crop varieties.

The repository, known as the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, will store the raw genetic materials needed for the global food supply to survive climate change, water and energy shortages, and even shifts in food preferences.
