Photo: Hurricane Forecast 2009: 6 Expected in "Average" Season



Only six Atlantic hurricanes are likely to form this summer (above, a 2003 view of Hurricane Isabel from the International Space Station), making the 2009 hurricane season a little less active than recent years, hurricane forecasters at Colorado State University said on April 7, 2009.

But there's still a better-than-even chance that at least one major hurricane will make landfall somewhere between Texas and Maine, they added.
