Photo: Egypt's Largest Pharaoh-Era Fortress Discovered, Experts Announce



An archaeologist excavates a grave containing a jug and female remains near the site of the ancient Egyptian fortress of Tjaru (or Tharo) on the Sinai Peninsula in April 2007.

The fort is the largest yet found from Egypt's pharaonic era and is about 3,000 to 3,500 years old, archaeologists recently announced.
