Photo: Termite Power: Can Pests' Guts Create New Fuel?



Scientists are researching how microbes inside termites release hydrogen from the wood and other plant materials that the insects eat. The process could one day be mass-produced to produce hydrogen on an industrial scale, the researchers say.
