Hurricane Katrina, which made landfall on the Gulf Coast last August, was one of the costliest and deadliest hurricanes in recent U.S. history. Forecasters warn that a similar hurricane strike on New York City could devastate the U.S.'s largest urban center and derail the U.S. economy.
