Photo: Earliest Galaxies in the Universe Spied by Astronomers



A series of images taken at the Subaru Telescope Facility in Hilo, Hawaii, zoom in on a galaxy dubbed IOK-1, the reddish object in the center of the last panel. This galaxy is currently the most distant known, situated about 12.88 billion light-years from Earth.
