Photo: Prehistoric Armored Mammal Found in Chile



An artist's reconstruction shows what the newfound species of armored mammal named Parapropalaehoplophorus septentrionalis might have looked like.

Scientists say the ancient creature, a type of animal known as a glyptodont, is providing insights both into mammal evolution and the geography of ancient South America.
