Photo: Saving Jaguars, Tigers Can Prevent Human Diseases?

Saving big cats such as the jaguar, like the one seen above, can save human lives by keeping some animal-borne diseases in check, conservation and medical experts say.

In February 2009 wildlife protection nonprofit Panthera announced a partnership with Mount Sinai Medical Center to train "doctor conservationists" to spread the word about the value of protecting wild cats.
