Photo: Moon Formed Volcanoes Early, Rock Study Shows



Researchers studying an ancient moon rock that crashed onto Earth found solidified magma similar to the terrestrial volcanic rock seen here.

The find pushes back the formation of the moon's volcanoes to early in its existence and provides insight into the early stages of planet formation, scientists say.
