Photo: Groups Challenge U.S. Government Over Gray Wolves

February 28, 2008—This map from Defenders of Wildlife, a conservation group, delineates the current northern Rockies wolf range—within the orange line—and illustrates with icons major non-lethal projects that have addressed conflicts between wolves and people between 1999 and 2007.

Defenders of Wildlife was among a coalition of animal rights group that filed legal notice this week of their intention to launch a legal challenge to the U.S. government's decision to remove these wolves from the country's endangered species act.
