Photo: "Lexus" of Space Station Labs Slated for Launch

An image shows how the Kibo lab, or Japanese Experiment Module, will look when complete.

Three flights will be needed to put together the ambitious, $1 billion facility. The Exposed Logistics Module-Pressurized Section went up in March 2008. The Pressurized Module and the Remote Manipulator System are slated for launch in May 2008. And the Exposed Facility for outdoor experiments and a smaller robot arm are planned to complete the lab sometime next year.
