Photo: Pluto Gets New Name, as Does "Xena"

The first official definition of "planet," decided last month by astronomers, has changed the face of the solar system.

Pluto and 2003 UB313, the distant icy body nicknamed "Xena," now have new official designations. Pluto has been dubbed asteroid number 134340 to reflects its downgraded status as a "dwarf planet," while Xena's new official name is Eris, after the Greek goddess of discord and strife.
