Prescription drugs, steroids, and other medications are just some of the potential root causes of adult gynecomastia, a medical condition in which men grow femalelike breasts. The condition can also be caused by a genetic hormone imbalance or by liver problems.

In adolescent boys gynecomastia is commonly brought on by hormonal changes, but then generally fades with age.
